How can 3 teams play a game at the same time?

TriBall Challenge does involve contests where three teams compete against each other in games of basketball, softball, and flag football, but only two teams are playing on the court or field at the same time. The three teams rotate playing 4-on-4 games against each other in all three sports. In addition, the team that is inactive for each game acts as an "official" for violation "challenges" made by either of the other two teams.

How can softball be played with only 4 players per team?

In TriBall Challenge, teams of 4 players each play a modified "2-base" softball game. Only two bases are used, which are placed 60 feet from the batters box at a 60 degree angle. The outfield is also reduced in size by narrowing the field of play with the addition of sidelines. Teams can then play with two infielders and two outfielders to defend the entire field.

What is a violation "challenge"?

In TriBall Challenge, any of the active players on the court or field may call a violation, foul, or penalty on their opponent. The opponent then has the opportunity to "challenge" the call. The "challenge" is directed to the inactive team's designated official(s), who determine the validity of the "challenge". Each team is allocated only one lost challenge or two reversed calls per game.
